Perry Elliott

Perry Elliott

Director of UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science & British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence, London (UK)

Perry Elliott is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at University College London. He is director of the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science UCL and a consultant cardiologist at St. Bartholomew's Hospital London.

He is Chairman of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Heart Academy and past chair of the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Genomics, the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases and the Executive Committee for the European Outcomes Research Programme registry on cardiomyopathies. He is an executive Editor for the European Heart Journal.

Perry Elliott is a recognised world authority in heart muscle disease. His most important research contributions include: gene identification; development and application of risk tools; biomarker discovery, and clinical trials in rare diseases.

Iacopo Olivotto

Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases, University of Florence - Meyer University Hospital, Florence (IT)

Prof. Iacopo Olivotto is Head of the Cardiology Unit at Meyer University Children Hospital, Head of the Cardiomyopathy Service at Careggi University Hospital, and Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florence, Italy. Over the last two decades, his main clinical and research interests have included various aspects of cardiomyopathies, with special focus on the translational investigation of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Prof. Olivotto has pioneered the design and execution of randomized clinical trials in genetic cardiomyopathies, including the seminal Explorer HCM (as the lead authors) and Sequoia HCM trials involving cardiac myosin inhibitors for symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathies.

He has co-authored over 400 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals. Prof. Olivotto is a co-founder of The Sarcomeric Human Cardiomyopathy Registry (Share), ICON (International CardiomyOpathy Network), and the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Medical Association.

Faiez Zannad

Faiez Zannad

Emeritus Professor of Therapeutics and Cardiology, Centre d'Investigation Clinique Inserm and Université de Lorraine, CHU Nancy, France

Faiez Zannad, MD, cardiologist, PhD in clinical pharmacology, Professor Emeritus of Therapeutics at the University of Lorraine. He directed the Inserm Clinical Investigation Center (CIC) in Nancy for 30 years. Former president of the French Society of Hypertension.

A specialist in heart failure and clinical trials, he contributed to the development of most of the clinical evidence for drug treatments for heart failure. Recipient of several EU research grants.

Founder of a global, multi-stakeholder think tank, in partnership with the US FDA, on cardiovascular clinical trials (CVCT), dedicated to the science of clinical trials. Recipient of the Clarivate Award for Highly Cited Researcher. Eugene Braunwald Scholar – Harvard Medical School.
